A wise man once said…
That what you are in life has not so much to do with what you have accomplished, but the obstacles you overcame in doing so.
What I needed as a child of negative circumstance was for someone to share that it didn’t matter where I came from- but rather, where I was going and the specifics of how to enjoy the journey along the way. That didn’t happen until I was a fully grown adult. As a result, I became determined to make sure children under my influence didn’t have to wait until they were in their thirties to realize they had true value.
Driven by that mission, I have spent the last twenty plus years working with educators in re-envisioning their teaching and learning spaces in ways that enable students to become empowered learners, who through self actualized acts use their passion to make the world a better place.
My passion: building capacity for change by helping schools and educators across the globe make the shift into communities of connected learners. I do this in two ways:
21st Century Collaborative: keynotes and workshops
Through this company, 21st Century Collaborative, I am a digital consultant and international keynote speaker on 21st century reform, instructional technology, and teacher leadership. From keynotes to audiences of thousands to small-group, hands-on workshops, I am an internationally sought after expert on 21st century learning.

Powerful Learning Practice: professional development for the 21st century
I am also CEO and co-founder of Powerful Learning Practice Network, a professional development company that works with schools and districts from across the US, Canada, New Zealand, Norway, and Australia to re-envision their learning cultures and communities.
